It’s been nearly 10 years since I started Beck and Call PR and as like most self-employed people work tends to be full of peaks and troughs. There are times when I am drowning in work and times when things go quiet. In those quieter times I always remind myself why I went self-employed, and the reason is because I wanted to help small businesses.
After spending years networking on behalf of big businesses, I noticed a pattern, at these events there would always be great small businesses, with brilliant stories and missions but that weren’t utilising PR. When asked most of these business owners would say one of these things as to why PR wasn’t for them:
· “I don’t have a story.”
· “Nobody would be interested.”
· “I don’t know where to begin”
· “PR is expensive and as I small business I can’t afford it.”

I’m passionate about ensuring that small organisations and businesses get the exposure they deserve. There is no reason a business from running from somebody’s home can’t be seen in all the same places as the multi-nationals. You may be reading this thinking it is impossible, but I’ve worked with clients that are working from their kitchens and got their products and them on the pages of Grazia, Women’s Health, Prima and more. I’ve had small business clients gain column inches in the top publications for their industry and I’ve ensured small business owners get to have their say in national papers and across the airwaves.
The root of all this finding your story and having the confidence and knowledge to share it, which is what I hope these new packages do. Each package (even the DIY one) includes some time with me each month so you’re never truly on your own).
